The ash slab top of this writing desk is supported on a walnut trestle base. Inspiration for the curved ends of the base came from a table by British furniture maker Martin Parsons. The curved center stretcher ties the two ends together and reflects the curved front edge of the ash slab top. That stretcher features tusk tenons with hand fitted wedges which can be removed, allowing the base to break down into three pieces. Walnut underhung drawers, inspired by Shaker sewing stands, leave ample knee room under the center of the desk.
