Furniture is built in the shop the "Old Fashioned" way, one at a time.

The hardwood arrives rough sawn and is then shaped with a series of English "rounder" and "trapping" planes. The parts are then carefully fitted and assembled.

The piece is then given a hand rubbed oil finish.

What you can't see is important as well. Each chair, stool, and bench is DOUBLE SEATED. First a seat is woven of heavy upholstery jute and filled with upholstery foam. A second seat is woven over the top of the first. It will not sag and will last and last.

The Shaker's original catalogue stated "We have spared no expense to produce an article that cannot be surpassed in any respect and which combines all the advantages of durability, simplicity, and lightness."
